Dear patient

Greetings and appreciation for your trust in choosing me as your treating physician, I would like to inform you that you have undergone cosmetic nose surgery with an open approach and in a non-destructive manner. My goal in choosing this method, despite the difficulty and length of the surgery, was to create a beautiful, attractive and natural nose with healthy function and with the least risk of malformation over time. In your surgery, we have tried to take any necessary side measures, which can improve the function of your nose, and we have tried to strengthen the structure and skeleton of your nose during nose surgery, so the need for postoperative care in comparison It has been minimized by other methods.

Usually the surgery operation (RHINOPLASTY) will not cause considerable pain on your nose and face areas and that by using one or two Acetaminophen every 6 hours, you can prevent from possible pain. (it has prescribed for you ).

Please remember not to use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, like Aspirin, ibuprofen, Diclfenac, Mefenamic acid and so on, for the first 3 days, because of possible haemorrhage after the surgery.

After completion of surgery operation, the inside of your nose will be filled with smeared streaks and that may shut your nose. These streaks will usually be removed before being discharged from the hospital. It should be remembered that after the surgery, the inside mucus of the nose, like the outside of it, is swollen, and so the desired natural breathing is not possible in the early days.

There will naturally be some limited blood discharge for some time, and no need to worry. Phenylephrine drop is prescribed for you that can be used every 4 hours for 2-3 days (1-2 drops), inside your nose.

To avoid the inflammation of face, nose and around the eyes, a cold compress could periodically be used for48 to 72 hours.

On most cases, there will be considerable swelling on face and around the eyes for 2 to 4 days. Don’t worry, the swelling is short lived and will soon disappear after the 4th day

In case, after the surgery, inside the nose is filled with dry blood clots, you can from the 3th day of the operation, apply a kind of ointment inside the nose (ophthalmic Tetracycline ointment is prescribed for you ) and you can cautiously remove these clots in order to open a narrow space for breathing. Washing the inside of nose with normal saline serum or spray will also be helpful

For the first 24 hours, it is better to consume liquids and soft and light meals, and from the second day on, consuming ordinary and chewing foods have no restrictions.

Limiting food regimen and denying enough eating after the operation, is not wise and suitable. Consuming high protein foods and dairy products is recommended and taking multi-vitamins are helpful.

Using soft tooth-brush after 24 hours of the surgery has no objections

It is advisable not to wear glasses at least up to 2 months after the surgery operation.

Using contact lens at the first available opportunity after the surgery operation will bear no objection.

After complete recovery and in case of not being generally weak and no dizziness, you can carry on normal routines and that you can get on with everyday affairs individually.

It is necessary for sometimes (2 to3 weeks) to avoid sleeping on the sides but rather on the back.

On the entire week after the surgery operation, avoid any make-up on your face.

To avoid possible infections after surgery operation, 20 Cephalexin capsules has been prescribed for you to take every 6 hours for 5 days.

Avoid forceful blow through the nose and in case of sneeze, do it with full open mouth.

Avoid lifting heavy loads, and try not to exert pressure on your body, specifically avoid lifting very heavy loads for 2 months after the surgery operation.

Keep away from any intense physical activity or any harmful kind of serious sports for 2 months after the operation. After 2 months, doing serious exercises has no objection.

For the first week after the operation, avoid smoking and also avoid consuming alcoholic beverages

Use of effective scar repair ointment will improve the healing process. You can use the ointment from 5th day after surgery for 3 months on skin incision lines (skin cutting lines).

Splint (plaster) on the nose, will be removed after 6-10 days. Before coming to my office, take a shower and allow the splint or plaster to become wet, and then refer to the office without removing the plaster.

After removing the splint, the surface of your nose will be covered with adhesive tapes for 3 – 4 weeks. You can do it by yourself.

To replace the adhesive tapes on the surface of your nose, first take a shower while the previous tapes are on your nose, and at the end of the shower, take the tapes off cautiously, then wash the nose with suitable detergent and let the skin of the nose completely dry, finally you can attach new tapes as I had explained to you in the office.

It is necessary to apply suitable sun creams on the over skin of your nose, after taping period during the days.

It must be remembered that recovery process in any operated organ will actively continue for at least 6 months to 2 years in human body and it is a long lasting process. Therefore the area on the nose and around it , will become swollen after the surgery but in most patients this swelling will recover very quickly and after 2-3 weeks it seems pretty normal . However it is after a long term duration that the changes will end and the actual stable ideal shape will appear.

Having peace of mind and avoiding distress and anxiety have considerable effects on the swift healing of the swollen operated nose. Don’t worry, in due time all minor defects will disappear.
